Easy Ways to Reduce Clutter in Your Student Room

Let’s face it, most of us, if not all of us, have too much stuff in our room. Whether it’s empty crisp packets you haven’t thrown away yet or a collection of “important papers” that you don’t have a home for – it tends to add up.

Truth be told, we could all do with decluttering. But how can you reduce clutter in your student room – and keep it looking pristine? We’ve got a couple of helpful tips.

Have a Place For Everything

Everything should have a home. Making sure that everything has its own place is essential; otherwise, it’ll get left on the floor or strewn across your desk. Go through your room and ensure that everything has a dedicated place, and then, more importantly, try to keep them in that place.

Getting storage containers is a really effective way to keep your space looking neat and tidy whilst still having enough storage space to suit you. If you find that there are certain things you don’t know what to do with, perhaps those things need to be donated, sold, or thrown away.

Do Your Laundry

Whilst this is a topic of a whole different article and may seem irrelevant, ensuring you’re on top of your laundry goes a long way to help reduce clutter. If you haven’t done laundry in a while, you may find clean and dirty clothes on the floor or thrown over a chair.

This can make your room look rather cluttered without any actual clutter. Keeping a laundry basket in the bathroom or in your bedroom can keep your space looking tidy. It’s also good hygiene and actually helps to keep your stress levels down. Who knew!

Make It a Habit

Unfortunately, decluttering isn’t a one-time thing. But lucky for you, it’s easy to stay on top of clutter.

Why not try going around your room once a week and remove any stuff that you don’t need (or love) and put away any items lying around? That way, you’ll have a tidy room most of the time without having to schedule a massive cleanup every month.

Not everyone likes cleaning and working to reduce clutter throughout their room, but once you make simple tidy-ups a part of your weekly routine, you’ll most likely always have a clean room – and far lower stress levels!
