Can You Benefit From the Pomodoro Technique?

Alright, it’s studying time. You don’t feel like it, but it needs to be done. So, for the next two hours… two hours? That seems like an awfully long time, and that fact alone is seriously off-putting. Is there any way to get two hours of studying in without it feeling like – well – forever? As a matter of fact, there is. Let’s take a look at the Pomodoro Technique.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique helps you to manage your time more effectively. This technique provides you with a sense of urgency; you don’t feel like you have all the hours in the day but rather a set time to do any and all tasks you need to do. If you tend to get distracted easily, you can use your quick breaks to be distracted by messaging your friends or grabbing another cup of coffee. And without feeling like you should be working or studying.

How Does It Work?

The Pomodoro Technique is relatively simple.

  • First, list all the things you need to do and then set a timer for 25 minutes (you can add more time, but 25 minutes is recommended).
  • Focus on whatever task you need to do until the timer goes off.
  • Take a break for around 3-5 minutes and repeat the process again.
  • Every 4-5 repetitions of the Pomodoro Technique, take a 15-30 minute break before you start working again.

How Can It Help You?

If you find yourself getting easily distracted when having to concentrate for long periods of time, working for an undetermined amount of time, or you just work until you drop, then the Pomodoro Technique will work well for you. This clever time management system allows you to get a decent amount of work done whilst still being able to stand up every once in a while and take a short breather. The 25-minute timer gives you enough time to get your tasks done, but you don’t feel like you’re just going to keep working for hours on end; there is light at the end of a short and manageable tunnel!

The Pomodoro Technique is easy to understand, and anyone can incorporate it into their day. It’s time to say goodbye to distractions and procrastinating and hello to a new and productive you.

So set an alarm for 25 minutes and get cracking on the work that you’ve been putting off.
