Maintaining Motivation When It’s Really Hard

If you’re a living, breathing human being, you probably struggle with maintaining motivation.

Do you ever find yourself struggling to stay engaged when faced with a tough challenge or a seemingly endless to-do list? You’re not alone! Maintaining motivation can be difficult, but it’s essential for achieving our goals and living a fulfilling life.

In this article, we’ll explore some practical tips and strategies to help you stay motivated, even when it feels like the odds are against you. So, if you’re ready to overcome those motivational roadblocks and reach your full potential, keep reading!

Make Sure Your Goals Are Specific

Setting goals is important when it comes to staying motivated. If you don’t have any goals, then what are you trying to achieve? But when setting goals, make sure that they’re specific. It’s all well and good to say that you want to pass all your classes, but how are you going to achieve this?

Breaking them down into smaller goals will make them seem more attainable as opposed to something that you would like to happen. So if your goal is to ace all your classes, you could break that down into smaller goals such as “attend all your classes” and “study for an hour every day”.

Use a Planner

So, you sit down at your desk, and you running through your mental to-do list to see what you need to get done. But there are just too many things in your head, and now you’re tired before you’ve even actually done anything, and you don’t feel motivated to do all the things you said you were going to do.

A solution? Have a planner. Making a note of all the things that you need to get done and on what days you’re planning to do them will save you from wracking your brain trying to work out what you were supposed to be doing.

Reward Yourself

The main reason that people struggle with staying motivated is that they can’t see the fruits of their labour straight away. You won’t feel motivated to study if you don’t magically know everything after one studying session.

One way to combat this is to reward yourself. You don’t have to do something crazy every time you study for an hour; you can maybe watch an episode of your favourite series or have a nice snack before going back to your studies.

Whilst finding motivation is tough, it isn’t impossible. If you have the right tools at your disposal like a good planner, reachable goals and reward snacks – you’ll find motivation is certainly within your reach.
